Green style with pots and urns
Incorporating pots and urns in your garden brings life to any outdoor space, be it a courtyard, balcony or patio. The strategic placement of a classical urn, or zen bowl, planted with succulents or mother in laws tongue can enhance the gardens look and provide a whole new dimension to the space. The urn pictured below, is at the end of a swimming pool and provides accent and symmetry to the garden. In the second image our team used the urn to break the horizontal plane and provide some garden interest for the entry statement of the residence.
Water features with pots
The introduction of a water feature pictured, provides a focal point in this formal garden. For this design, our team used an urn that recirculates water from a planter below, with the pot ‘ floating’ on the grey pebble base. The soothing effect of the water trickling down the side of the urn evokes tranquility and provides a great space to seek solace after a busy day. The addition of uplighting provides a dramatic effect at night and a perfect spot for an after dinner coffee.
Pots for kitchen gardens
Our design team are frequently asked to add a kitchen garden in our makeovers and pots make the perfect receptacle for growing herbs and vegetables. The fact that they are portable and can be moved to catch the sun, or shade, makes them ideal garden planters.
A tip to remember is that the colour of the pot or urn needs to complement your outdoor room, while providing contrast to the plant foliage. Below, a splash of colour from the orange marigolds contrasts effectively with the coffee brown pot, strategically placed within the swimming pool enclosure.
Go ‘ potty ‘ with pots they provide green style and add height and dimension to your garden.
