If you have a service area that is neglected, you can easily turn a small space into a tropical oasis, using clever landscape design. We made over a garden recently on the Gold Coast, which had a shady area down the side of the house,in need of some serious TLC. We retained the specimen tree and golden cane and removed the remaining shrubs,as they were past salvaging and added a touch of jungle with a few classic sub tropical plant species.
The teams first objective was to treat the soil with compost and soil conditioner before planting, to improve the growing conditions. Our design included a plant palette of Alocasia, Spathyphyllum, Anthurium, Guzmania bromeliads,in the pots and Alternanthera. We turned this small space into a tropical oasis with a luscious planting scheme and created a zen zone, in an otherwise bland and unsightly part of the garden.
The strategic placing of the pot, covered an ugly drain, which detracted from the gardens focal point. The simplicity of planting gives the illusion of a larger space and softens the imposing fence line. Both functional and beautiful the clients love the transformation of this area and the team at Transforming Gardens loved the final outcome.
